The Map of Quietude
VISIT SKÅNE

Across Europe, noise pollution is a growing problem and, according to the World Health Organization, one of the leading environmental causes of health issues. At the same time, research shows that natural soundscapes help us slow down and recover – something Sweden’s southernmost region Skåne has in abundance.
In 2024, we launched The Map of Quietude, a curated guide to quiet nature spots across Skåne. We measured sound levels and created one-hour recordings from each location, allowing visitors to experience the quietude before they arrive.
The map has been described as “a Michelin Guide for the soul”, and in 2026 the BBC highlighted it as a leading example of the growing quietcation travel trend.
“If silence is golden, Sweden has just found a way to turn it into tourist currency”
